How we handle your personal data

Who we are

Crossfloat is a floating building systems company founded by Joshua Karategin. For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Crossfloat is the data controller responsible for personal data collected through this website.

What data we collect and why

We only collect personal data that you actively provide to us. We do not run advertising, analytics, or tracking on this site.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third party for marketing purposes. We use enquiry data solely to assess your project, respond to your message, and follow up as necessary.

Third-party data processors

Two external services process data on our behalf when you use this website. Both operate under data processing agreements that comply with GDPR.

  • Formspree Inc. (USA) — processes contact form submissions and delivers them to us by email. Data is transferred to the United States under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Formspree privacy policy: formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy
  • Google LLC (USA) — delivers web fonts (Inter and Inter Tight) from fonts.googleapis.com. Your IP address is transmitted to Google servers on page load. Google privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy

No other third-party services have access to data collected through this website. There is no advertising network, social media pixel, or behavioural analytics platform present.

How long we keep your data

Contact form submissions are retained for as long as necessary to respond to and conclude your enquiry — typically no longer than two years unless an active business relationship continues. You may request deletion at any time (see Your Rights below).

Server access logs are automatically deleted by our hosting provider after 30 days.

Your rights under GDPR

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
  • Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate data
  • Deletion — ask us to delete your data (the "right to be forgotten")
  • Restriction — ask us to pause processing while a dispute is resolved
  • Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest

If you believe we have handled your data unlawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) at autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics software. No cookie consent banner is displayed because no non-essential cookies are set.

The only browser storage this site may use is standard session behaviour managed by your browser itself. Nothing is written to localStorage or sessionStorage.

Accuracy and disclaimer

Carbon calculator: Figures produced by the embodied carbon calculator are indicative estimates based on published benchmarks (RICS, Journal of Building Engineering 2022). They are not a substitute for a project-specific Life Cycle Assessment. Crossfloat accepts no liability for financial, procurement, or design decisions made on the basis of calculator outputs.

We strive to keep all technical information on this site accurate and current. However, the construction and climate adaptation fields evolve — benchmarks, regulatory frameworks, and material performance data change over time. We make no warranty, express or implied, as to the completeness, accuracy, or fitness for purpose of any information on this site.

Engagement with Crossfloat through the contact form does not constitute a contract, commitment, or professional engagement of any kind. Formal agreements are made only through separate, signed documentation.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Crossfloat shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, this website or any information contained within it.

This includes, without limitation, losses arising from reliance on the carbon calculator, technical specification documents, or any other content presented on this site prior to a formal engagement.
